Most sales teams spend their best hours on leads that were never going to buy. AI-assisted qualification aims to move that judgement earlier, using data you already collect.
Three signals, combined
Fit: company size, sector, role and location compared against your best existing customers. Behaviour: which pages were visited, which emails were opened, whether pricing or case studies were viewed. Timing: recent activity, hiring, funding or seasonal patterns that suggest a decision is near. Traditional scoring adds these up with fixed points. A model learns which combinations actually led to deals in your own history.
What it looks like in practice
- New leads receive a score and a short plain-language reason, for example strong fit, visited pricing twice this week.
- High scores go straight to a person. Medium scores enter a nurture sequence. Low scores are parked, not deleted.
- Every closed deal and every lost deal is fed back, so the model keeps improving.
Where to be careful
Models trained on past deals can quietly repeat past bias, favouring the kinds of customers you already have and missing new markets. Review the scoring rules regularly, keep a human override, and never let a score be the only reason a real enquiry goes unanswered.
